12 Inspiring Prompts for Writers: Day 4
DAY FOUR—Gratitude
Welcome back! Today’s focus is gratitude, which is a light and airy, definitely not scary prompt. For this one, try to think of anything and everything you’re grateful for, whether it’s related to writing or not—whatever comes to mind. You don’t need to do an exhaustive list, but it’s real nice to remember that there are little glimmers of sunshine in the world this time of year, when everything feels dark and gloomy.
Things I am grateful for:
Heat in the house (oh my GOD it has been so cold. It’s disgusting)
Asher (my man) for literally keeping the house warm (it’s his job to wrestle the pellet stove) and for figuratively keeping the house warm as well
Marie, for being a super cool art friend, who is also like weirdly kind, and unrelatedly, lets me use their printer
My cats (they are really cute)

My therapist, who listens to my dumb bullshit with compassion
New 2024 friends, like Taylor, Anita, Ya’ara, Kit, Allison, Lavender, and Huan, for being interesting and cool people!
Old friends, like my Dobra crew
Northampton Art Club! Hosted by Paige, so I don’t have to lol
My mother, Asher’s mother, and my Aunt Sue, for buying cards from me and supporting my small business
SNAP and Masshealth, for making sure I don’t die while I pursue my studies
All the cool cats in my writers’ discord server, for giving their time to critique each other’s work
My pills, which keep me from crying all the time (thank you escitalopram)
Asher again for fixing my computer so it doesn’t shit the bed. (It’s a 2012 Macbook Pro and it’s running like a champ!—I have 190 internet tabs open!)
Libraries! They are so cool! I’ve been loving the Libby app as well
So those are mine, or a few of them, anyway. What are you grateful for? Let it all out! And thank you for trying these prompts! I’m grateful for youuuu!
